“Tested: How Twelve Wrongfully Imprisoned Men Held Onto Hope”

The criminal justice system in Texas has flaws. Most of us know that intellectually. But few of us personally experience the excruciating tragedy of being unjustly imprisoned for years. The 12 men profiled in this remarkable book were convicted of crimes they did not commit. Collectively, the 12 served over 189 years in prison before being exonerated. In this remarkable Forum program, the authors of Tested and some of the men who survived that supreme injustice will tell us their experiences and how the men survived. Don’t miss this unique program.

Peyton Budd

Dorothy Budd

The authors are Dorothy Budd and Peyton Budd. Dorothy is a former child sex crimes prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, and now is an Episcopalian deacon. Peyton is her daughter and a published poet. Together they interviewed these 12 exonerated men. The result is an extraordinary collection of stories, personalities, and photographs.

Innocence Project Directors Barry Scheck and Peter Neufield said of this book, “These stories are bursting with hope and grace. Their lives inspire us to seek justice for all.”
